She is nineteen years old. She is the second woman to rule Muntu in its 230-year history, and the first from Nganda Ya Khaleni. Every contestant in the Trials forfeited. The keepers of Muntu's memory have been revealed. Nganda Ya Mulilo — scribes, archivists, and rumoured wielders of fire — take their place as the Seventh Nganda. Their history was nearly destroyed in the Great War. What survived became their purpose.
